Successful planning and re-zoning process

Intermarket was retained by a private developer to assist in acquiring a 20 acre site which included the privately held Waterloo Towne Square property and adjacent lands owned by the City. Both private sector and City-owned lands were used to create a mixed-use, pedestrian-orientated Master Plan.

Intermarket than assisted in finalizing the development approvals for this mixed-use project that includes office and retail uses; as well as integrates significant residential development that was occurring in the Uptown Area.

Additional work was done with the local Businees Improvement Area (BIA) to ultimately finalize a plan that integrated the new mixed-use project with the existing institutional uses and the single-family housing neighborhoods that were located adjacent to the development.

Uptown Waterloo has been successfully re-developed and fully integrates retail, office and residential uses. This project is one of the best examples of core development in a mid-sized city in Canada.
