Integration of public and private sector re-development

Intermarket was retained by the Harbourfront Center to manage the design and construction of the waterfront promenade at York and John Quay in downtown Toronto.

Intermarket was also hired by Brookfield Properties, the owner of the Queens Quay Terminal building, to integrate the public realm improvements with renovation work to the existing Queens Quay Terminal structure.

Intermarket managed a consultant team that developed a prototype for the treatment of Toronto’s waterfront. Intermarket than organized the tender process and managed the construction of all the works.

The overall project was funded by the Toronto Waterfront Redevelopment Corporation (TWRC) and Brookfield Properties, the owners of the Queens Quay terminal building.

The Water’s Edge Revitalization project won an Urban Design Award from the City of Toronto and the new promenades are enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
